You Ask - I Answer

Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (including Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield plans), Cigna, and TRICARE as a certified network provider and I am happy to help you to understand your insurance benefits as needed. Additionally, I accept clients as an out-of-network provider. If I am out-of-network for your health insurance plan, you will be responsible for payment at the time of service and I will provide you with an invoice (also known as a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance organization for reimbursement as your plan allows. I am happy to provide guidance for the process of reimbursement. Sometimes clients choose to pay out of pocket rather than utilizing health insurance benefits. You are welcome to make the choice to pay out of pocket for services; however, if you carry an insurance plan with an insurance company I am contracted with as an in-network provider then an insurance waiver must be reviewed and signed. I am also happy to explore your options for utilizing health care plans, so you can make a decision that works best for you and your needs.

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, money order, or cashier's check. I am currently in the process of identifying payment processing services for card payments and will update my information as soon as I am able to accept card payments. Any check payments that are returned due to insufficient funds or other account problems will result in a returned check fee.

What are your fees?

Please contact me for more information about consultation services or fees not listed.

How long does each therapy session take?

The length of sessions may vary depending on the services being provided. In general, an initial session (also known as an intake session) will be scheduled for 90 minutes to ensure some time for reviewing office policies and plenty of time for gathering information about your concerns. Each subsequent session will be scheduled for 50 minutes. Often, in the beginning of therapy services, sessions are scheduled once each week; however, we will work together to develop a plan for scheduling that works best for you and your needs.

What types of therapy do you practice?

I utilize a variety of techniques, which allows me to individualize therapy sessions to most effectively meet your needs and concerns. My eclectic approach includes solution-focused and brief therapy models (SFBT), trauma-focused and trauma-informed techniques, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). My professional orientation is guided by Adlerian Therapy and strength-based approaches. My work is also guided by my knowledge of the physiological impacts of our life experiences. Everything we experience results in changes within our body and mind that influence our reactions. Understanding the physiological impact of our psychological experience informs what we do in and out of therapy.
